Apple is set to accelerate the development of its M4 series Apple Silicon chips, with Mark Gurman of Bloomberg forecasting an ambitious launch schedule for the end of 2024.
The anticipated lineup includes various Mac models ranging from a 14-inch MacBook Pro to a high-end Mac Pro, all equipped with the new chip series designed to enhance AI task performance.
Mac 2024 Roadmap
The roadmap outlines the following releases:
- A low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro by the end of 2024.
- A 24-inch iMac by the end of 2024.
- High-end 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M4 Pro/Max chips by early 2025.
- A new Mac mini with M4 configurations by early 2025.
- New 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are expected in the spring of 2025.
- A high-end Mac Studio with an M4 chip by mid-2025.
- A Mac Pro equipped with an M4 Ultra chip by the second half of 2025.
Gurman also reaffirmed that Apple has internally tested an M3 Ultra chip, which might be used in future Mac Studio and Mac Pro models, although some high-end models may skip the M3 series.
