Intel has confirmed that the 14th generation Core codenamed Meteor Lake will be released in the latter half of 2023, utilizing the Intel 4 process.
According to official Intel news, the next-generation processor Meteor Lake will be available in the second half of 2023, with Lunar Lake for low-power platforms set to launch in 2024.
Intel has previously shared that Meteor Lake will make use of both the Intel 4 process and external process, and will feature the new “Tile” design, which integrates the CPU, SOC, graphics display, and IOE chips.
It is not yet confirmed if Meteor Lake will be available for desktop systems. Some rumours suggest that the next-generation desktop processor will be a Refresh version of the 13th-generation Core Raptor Lake, with only mobile devices receiving the Meteor Lake upgrade.
Intel Lunar Lake is expected to be a 15W low-power mobile CPU with a design that prioritizes performance-per-watt for mobile devices.
In terms of technology, Intel reports that mass production of the Intel 7 process has begun and that production for the Intel 4 process is ready. Meteor Lake’s launch will lead to an increase in Intel 4 production capacity in the second half of this year.
The Intel 3 process is progressing as planned, and test chips for the Intel 20A and 18A processes have been taped out.
