Intel’s next-generation Sapphire Rapids CPU leaked online!
Expected to be released in 2022!
According to reputed tech website VideoCardz, an Intel processor roadmap has been leaked recently, showing the code name of the next generation HEDT high-performance desktop CPU, called “Sapphire Rapids”. The HEDT platform is positioned as the top desktop processor, but lower than the server CPU, and the interface is similar to the desktop platform.
As can be seen from the roadmap, Sapphire Rapids is the successor to the existing Glacial Falls platform. The latter’s core code is “Cascade Lake-X”, using 14nm++ technology, including Core i9-10980XE and other models, using X299 chipset, up to 18 Core 36 threads, support four-channel DDR4 memory, using LGA 2066 socket.
We have learned that Intel’s 12th-generation Core desktop processor, code-named Alder Lake-S, will use a 10nm process, a new LGA 1700 socket, and a 600-series motherboard chipset. The corresponding Sapphire Rapids platform will use the W790 chipset, but the interface type is unknown.
Many sources predict that Intel’s new HEDT processors are also expected to use 10nm process technology to compete with AMD thread tearers.
