Microsoft has detailed an innovative AI model for MSN Weather, boasting a significant improvement in forecasting accuracy: a 17% increase for weekly forecasts and the capability to predict weather conditions up to 30 days in advance.
This advanced AI model integrates five AI technologies with three deep learning frameworks, enhancing speed and accuracy over traditional models that rely on supercomputers.
The new AI model can simulate atmospheric conditions based on latitude, longitude, and altitude and uses less computational resources compared to traditional models like NWP/ECMWF, achieving faster and more frequent weather predictions.
Microsoft claims that the new system improves weekly weather forecast accuracy by 17% and monthly forecasts by 4%.
This method allows the model to run frequent simulations on GPUs, achieving better forecast precision in minutes.
