Microsoft has announced a strategic investment of $1.5 billion (approximately 108.75 billion RMB) in the UAE-based AI technology holding company G42.
This move aims to fortify the collaboration between the two firms, bringing Microsoft’s latest AI technologies and skills training programs to the UAE and other countries globally.
As part of the expanded cooperation, Brad Smith, Vice President and President of Microsoft, will join the board of G42.
Smith stated,
“The collaboration will not only be limited to the UAE but will also extend to under-served nations, combining world-class technology with leading security, reliable, and responsible AI standards.”
This partnership is expected to integrate AI and digital infrastructure services across various regions, particularly in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa, aiming to provide equitable service opportunities and tackle significant governmental and commercial challenges while ensuring the highest standards of security and privacy.
Additionally, the partnership will support the development of a skilled, diverse AI workforce and talent pool by investing $1 billion in a developer development fund, promoting innovation and competitiveness in the UAE and the broader region.
