Moto E5 Plus Review: Is the Moto E5 Plus Good Enough?

The newest Moto device is here but why is no one excited?

Today Motorola launched it’s latest budget device the Moto E5 plus. The E5 Plus is the latest entry in the cost-effective Moto E series. Let’s talk more in detail about this device in our Moto E5 plus review today!

Moto E5 plus specifications and price in India:

Moto E5 plus comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset which is a low-end chipset. It’s mostly used in budget smartphones. The phone was launched in 3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM variant in India. The pricing is at INR 11,999.

The E5 plus sports a 6 inch HD plus display with 18:9 aspect ratio. With a resolution of 1440x720p it’s not the best display out there but still gets the job done. It has a glossy finish all over the body and it’s a fingerprint magnet.

At the back, there’s the customary Moto logo inside the fingerprint sensor. It has got a raised camera design. There’s the camera sensor along with the dual tone LED flash at the back.

At the top, you get the 3.5 mm headphone jack along with a noise cancellation microphone.

At the right, there is a power button and volume rocker and on the left it comes with sim tray slot which has a dedicated micro SD slot.

At the bottom, it comes with a micro USB port along with the microphone.

At the front, you get a front camera along with the LED flash which will help you take better selfies in dark lighting conditions too.

The device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, Adreno 505 GPU. It will be available in two storage variants i.e. 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. It does not come with the latest android and has Android 8.0 (oreo). Except for the Gyroscope sensor, the device contains all other sensors.

Because it only has a 720p display the device performs well while gaming at highest possible settings, but it could be even better if there was a better chipset available in this device.

One of the main cons of this device is that the back of the phone gets fingerprints easily which does not look good at all.

Moto E5 plus camera:

Moto E5 plus comes with a 5MP front camera along with LED flash and a back camera of 12MP which is 1.25mm pixel size and f2.0 aperture. It has PDAF, autofocus and also has video stabilization. The front camera and back camera both support 1080p videos. The one thing that is not good is that the some of the images showed different sort of colour tint that was not same as it was looking in front of the eyes.

Overall the camera quality of the device was not that bad.

Moto E5 plus price:

At a pricing of Rs 11,999, the phone does not justify the inclusion of this chipset. Overall it is a sturdy device and does feel solid to hold in hand.
