Samsung reportedly exceeded its initial production target by 22% in the first quarter of this year, producing 64.5 million smartphones and tablets.
The original target was set at 53 million units, excluding devices manufactured by contract suppliers like Wingtech Technology.
With the upcoming launch of new foldable smartphones, Samsung aims to bolster its inventory levels of traditional models to meet expected demands.
Increased production has also led to enhanced operational efficiency at Samsung’s display factories.
The A2 production line, specifically, which manufactures rigid OLED panels for the Galaxy A series, is now operating at an 80% capacity due to high demand.
Looking ahead, Samsung’s target for this year is to ship 253 million smartphones, including 51 million units from the Galaxy S series and its foldable devices.
The company typically introduces new foldable phones during the summer, and the increased production in the first quarter is anticipated to support the supply chain for these upcoming launches.
