Shawshank Redemption, ah who doesn’t love this movie?Almost everyone have seen or at least heard about the movie. Set in the fictional  Shawshank State prison, the story is of an innocent man, Andy Dufresne, who has been falsely implicated in a crime he hasn’t committed and his journey towards freedom, crawling through all the shit life throws at him, Shawshank Redemption is a story of redemption, of hope,  and the never dying human-spirit. It will shake your spirit and then bring you back to the reality. A must watch.

2. The Pursuit of Happyness

 

“You got a dream… You gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.”

 

Based on the true story of Christopher Gardner, this movie will surely change the way you look at the world. This movie is a tale of struggle of a failing salesman who gets the custody of his son, it will make you laugh, cry, cry in happiness but more than that it’ll inspire you to keep trying. Not to forget, Will Smith got an Oscar nomination for his performance in this movie.

 

3. 127 Hours

 

“There is no force more powerful than the will to live.”

 

127 Hours is, by far one of the best film I’ve ever seen. This movie taught me that it isn’t some rocks or some mountains or any diamonds, the hardest thing to break is the undying human spirit. Based on the true story of climber Aron Ralston, who just refused to give up even after getting struck in a rather unfavorable circumstance, 127 Hours is a must watch for anyone who is about to give up. Not to forget it got 6 Oscar’s nominations.

 

4. The Pianist

 

“Music was his passion. Survival was his masterpiece.”

 

A Jewish Polish Musician in ghettos of Warsaw at the peak of World War 2, what could be worst? Adrien Brody became the youngest Oscar Winner for Best Actor Category  for his portrayal of Wladyslaw Szpilman in this heartbreaking survival set during the holocaust. This movie will tell you how hard life can get and how everything can go wrong and yet you can survive through it.

5.  Good Will Hunting

I watched this movie a long time ago, and it’s still with me, same will happen to you. Good Will Hunting is a masterpiece, made possible by the ever-inspiring funny man Robin Williams and Matt Damon in his debut role. We all have been through phases when we couldn’t trust ourselves enough and needed someone to believe in us. This movie will relate to all of us. A must watch movie for all.
