Apple iPhone 16 Series to Feature Stainless Steel Battery Cases

According to a report on May 5 by Wall Street Insights, the Apple iPhone 16 series will switch its battery cases from aluminum-plastic film to stainless steel, supplied by a Chinese company.

The full steel casing will be manufactured using laser welding technology, which is expected to enhance battery life by increasing the number of charge cycles.

From previous leaks, it has been revealed that there will be adjustments in the battery capacity for the iPhone 16 series. The standard model will increase from the previous generation’s 3349 mAh to 3561 mAh, a 6% increase.

The Plus model will decrease from 4383 mAh to 4006 mAh, a reduction of 9%, while the Pro Max model will increase from 4422 mAh to 4676 mAh, a 5% increase.

It is still unclear whether the change in battery capacity is directly related to the modification of the battery casing.

According to previously exposed model photos, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will feature two vertically arranged cameras, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will retain a three-camera setup similar to previous models.

The dimensions of the new iPhone 16 Pro series will also see changes:

  • iPhone 15 Pro: 6.12 inches
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 6.69 inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 6.27 inches
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 6.86 inches
