On May 26, BMWBLOG reported that the BMW Skytop concept car made its global debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2024 on Lake Como.
The Skytop concept car features sleek lines reminiscent of classic BMW designs. It is a two-seater with a manually removable hardtop, and the rear window can be electrically raised or lowered.
BMW pays homage to its historic designs, such as the Z8 and 503 models, with the Skytop. The shark-nose front design reappears on this concept car, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Although currently a concept, there is a possibility of limited production.
The small spoiler on the car doors enhances the side profile’s sleekness, a design element that might be used in future production models.
The custom paint job of the Skytop is striking. Created by a special team at the Dingolfing plant, it combines a matte silver body with a brown-red hardtop and features a “chrome shadow effect,” a gradient specially designed for the Skytop.
The Skytop hints at BMW’s future design direction, with the upcoming iX3 in 2025 and the i3 sedan in 2026 representing the “Neue Klasse” (new class) design language, promising exciting changes for future production models.
