Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 Leaks: New Ryzen 8050 Notebook

Explore the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 with Ryzen 8050 APU, featuring enhanced graphics, AI capabilities, and sustainability.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 notebook has been revealed, showcasing its integration with the upcoming Strix Point APU Ryzen 8050. An image shared by the leaker TechnicallyLog1 displays the device, which will also support the Ryzen 8040.

The notebook boasts up to 64GB DDR5 memory, enhanced Wi-Fi capabilities, a 14-inch display with 400 nits brightness, and an 85% screen-to-body ratio. Emphasizing repairability and reduced energy consumption, it offers extended battery life.

AMD’s official roadmap previously announced the next-gen AMD Ryzen Strix Point APU will be released within 2024, featuring a Zen5 CPU and RDNA3+ GPU, along with a new XDNA 2 AI NPU.

The Strix Point series will include two models: Strix Point Mono and Strix Point Halo, both part of the Ryzen 8050 APU family. The Strix Point Mono chip combines Zen 5 and Zen 5C cores in a single-chip design, whereas the higher-end Strix Point Halo utilizes a chipset design exclusively with Zen 5 cores.

The expected specifications for AMD Ryzen 8050 Strix Point Mono include a 4nm single-chip design, up to 12 cores (Zen 5 + Zen 5C), 32 MB of shared L3 cache, and a CPU power of 50W, claiming to be 35% faster than Phoenix.

It features 16 RDNA 3+ computing units, integrated graphics comparable to RTX 3050 Max-Q, a 128-bit LPDDR5X memory controller, and an integrated XDNA 2 engine with a ~25 TOPs AI engine, scheduled for release in the second half of 2024.

The AMD Ryzen 8050 Strix Point Halo is expected to have a Zen 5 chipset design, up to 16 cores, 64MB of shared L3 cache, and a 90W power consumption, making it 25% faster than the 16-core Dragon Range.

It includes 40 RDNA 3+ computing units, integrated graphics performance comparable to RTX 4070 Max-Q (90W), a 256-bit LPDDR5X memory controller, and an integrated XDNA 2 engine with a ~50 TOPs AI engine, also scheduled for release in the second half of 2024.
