On September 8, it was reported that MediaTek had released its revenue data for August 2023. The revenue for the month was NT$42.26 billion/INR 109.39 billion, representing a 5.47% decrease from the same period last year.
In the first eight months of 2023, MediaTek’s accumulated revenue amounted to NT$267.806 billion/INR 693.2 billion. This figure represents a 30.26% drop compared to the same period last year.
Previously, MediaTek CEO Cai Lixing predicted that the company’s revenue in Q3 would bounce back to the NT$100 billion level, ranging between NT$102.1 billion-108.9 billion (approximately 23.381 billion-24.938 billion yuan). This would represent a quarter-over-quarter growth of 4%-11%.
Cai Lixing cited the second quarter’s achievement of both revenue and gross profit margin targets, as well as concurrent growth in the three primary business segments – mobile phones, smart devices, and power management chips – as evidence of the corporation’s steady performance.
The third quarter’s financial performance is anticipated to benefit from improvements in smartphone, networking chip, and power management chip sales, according to Cai Lixing.
This will temper the effect of lower demand for items like intelligent televisions. A balance between market share, income, and profitability will continue to be sought by MediaTek throughout the market cycle.
It’s worth mentioning that MediaTek just revealed that the development of their new Dimensity flagship processor utilizing TSMC’s 3nm technology is advancing nicely. Next year, it is expected to enter mass production after passing the crucial milestone of tape-out with flying colors.
