Microsoft announced a big update for Bing Today. The New Bing comes with built-in OpenAI’s GPT-4 model integration within Bing search to provide a ChatGPT-like experience.
The new Bing experience will be available today as a “limited preview” on the desktop. If you visit Bing.com today then you may see some example searches that you can try out. You’ll have a limited number of queries that you can use with it and You won’t be able to ask more follow-up questions until you have full access but users would be given the option to signup for complete access soon.
“AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with the largest category of all searches. Today, we’re launching Bing and Edge powered by AI copilot and chat, to help people get more from search and the web”,
said Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, of Microsoft.
You can join the waitlist with priority if you sign in with your Microsoft account, set Microsoft defaults on your PC, and download the Bing app as said by Microsoft. You will get an email when you are through the waitlist according to the FAQ.
At a first glance, the Waitlist page contains examples of what the new tool can be used for. You can even ask it for something which resembles a task like ordering a meal for people with dessert including specific instructions regarding the number of ingredients.
It is officially confirmed that its features are powered by an upgraded version of GPT 3.5 which is called the “Prometheus Model.” Microsoft claims that Prometheus Model is more powerful than GPT 3.5 and it can answer up-to-date information.
“To empower people to unlock the joy of discovery, feel the wonder of creation and better harness the world’s knowledge, today we’re improving how the world benefits from the web by reinventing the tools billions of people use every day, the search engine and the browser. ”
said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President & Consumer Chief Marketing Officer.

Microsoft is also planning to launch a new version of Edge browser with a new AI-powered sidebar. Chat and compose are added two new functionalities. You can ask them anything and get results. For example, you can ask Bing to help you compose an email or LinkedIn post.
For the time being, Microsoft will not show ads in newly added AI features but it will monetize these capabilities through ads. As currently, Bing is not dependent on market monetization like Google and Microsoft is not dependent on its search engine for revenue.
