NVIDIA’s RTX Remix has been updated to include the DLSS 3.5 with ray-tracing rebuild capabilities, enabling the creation of higher quality ray-traced images.
Previously, NVIDIA had updated the game “Portal RTX” with DLSS 3.5 and ray tracing features to enhance image quality.
DLSS 3.5, equipped with ray tracing reconstruction, is now part of the RTX Remix modding toolkit, allowing players to easily add new features to their favorite classic games.
NVIDIA notes that DLSS 3.5 with ray tracing is particularly beneficial in mod tools like RTX Remix, as it handles content that would be challenging for traditional manual denoisers.
Mod creators do not need to worry about manually adjusting settings for different scenes and lighting conditions—the AI model behind ray tracing has already been trained across various scenarios and adapts automatically.
In addition to DLSS 3.5, the update introduces new toolkits and runtime enhancements to improve mod image quality, and compatibility, and simplify the mod creation process.
Five improvements were contributed by the GitHub community:
- Mod developer “pixelcluster” optimized the RADV driver, improving RTX Remix’s performance on Steam Deck and for Linux AMD users.
- Mod developer “mmdanggg2” improved the consistency of distant lights, ensuring they update correctly when moved or redirected.
- Mod developer “jdswebb” enhanced terrain baking and features for games using a left-handed coordinate system.
- Mod developer “xoxor4d” made several improvements to simplify the texture marking process.
- Mod developer “xoxor4d” also added an option to use AABBs to differentiate instances, improving tracking between frames, which means less ghosting and flickering for animated objects and moving mesh skins.
NVIDIA showcased several game mods that utilize the RTX Remix with DLSS 3.5 ray tracing technology, including demos from games like “Half-Life 2” and “Deus Ex” (styled as Echelon Renderer) and “Might and Magic: Dark Messiah.”
