Scrolling screenshots coming to Android soon, but when?

P.S. Not anytime soon!

Google’s Android operating system is the most widely used OS on the planet. It powers the majority of smartphones worldwide and is most loved for its customizability, ease of usage and a lot more. But what people love Stock Android experience for is the lack of bloatware and unnecessary bells and whistles that a lot of people might not need. But because of that a lot of great features are also missed out on by people who prefer stock Android interface! There are a lot of great features which aren’t present in stock Android which can be seen in a lot of custom skins like MIUI, eMUI, Color OS, Funtouch OS and in Samsung’s own OneUI. Scrolling screenshots is one of those long coveted features which hasn’t made its way yet to the stock Android experience.

To give a live example, multi-window based multi-tasking was first introduced in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in 2013 when it had only Android 4.3 JellyBean. But the feature took 3 years to come to Native Android with the Android Nougat release in 2016.

The future of Scrolling Screenshots!

Now Scrolling screenshots feature is next on Google’s radar. Dave Burke, who’s the Vice President of Engineering for Android at Google recently promised in a tweet that this feature might show up in Android R. This means that we are still one Android OS version away from the release. This is because Android Q is the OS coming this October.

While in the meantime Scrolling Screenshot feature has been on One UI, MIUI, eMUI since a long time. It was present on so many Android phones since so long that it didn’t even require an afterthought in many of our review videos.

Finally Stock Android would join the party. And we are glad that at least they didn’t completely gloss over this heavily requested feature!

So guys what do you think? Would there be a chance that Google implements this feature in a better and more easier way than the other OEMs? Only time can tell us this!
