On July 7th, it was reported by the “New York Times” that Threads, a Twitter competitor launched by Meta, had exceeded 30 million user registrations on its first day of release.
This number easily surpassed the 1 million downloads that ChatGPT application received in the first five days of its release.
Since the launch of this app Meta CEO Zuckerberg has been reporting the number of registered users through his Threads account.
He reported that the number of registrations exceeded 10 million before he went to bed on the launch day, and when he woke up the next morning, the number had already exceeded 30 million.
SimilarWeb, a research firm, predicts that if the momentum continues, Threads’ user base will surpass 100 million in less than two months. Previously, ChatGPT was the only website to achieve 100 million users within two months of launch.
It is worth noting that we previously reported that Threads has not yet been released in the EU due to potential violations of user privacy restrictions.
Therefore, its 30 million first-day user registrations hold even greater value. Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who has also been active on Threads, announced that at least a dozen new features will be added to the app in the near future.
