On June 28, reports indicate that UNISOC has launched its first ultra-high-definition smart display chip platform M6780 at MWC Shanghai. The platform claims to support full HDR formats and 8K decoding and it also integrates various AI computing powers such as CPU, GPU, VDSP, ADSP and NPU.
UNISOC M6780 integrates Arm Cortex-A762 + Arm Cortex-A552 and Arm Mali-G57 4 cores GPU, supporting popular decoding protocols such as H.264 / H.265 / VP9 / AV1 / AVS.
The chip platform supports popular HD formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, and incorporates AI-SR super-resolution technology, AI-PQ intelligent image enhancement, and MEMC dynamic compensation technology. UNISOC’s AI-SR algorithm module claims to have undergone millions of deep learning training to restore low-resolution images to detailed high-definition images.
The M6780 supports 36x pixel magnification and can magnify 720p images to 8K ultra-high-definition images. M6780 also supports AI-PQ to identify various scene images and adjust the brightness, saturation, sharpness, and contrast of the image frame by frame.
The chip platform has a frame rate conversion module based on MEMC technology to obtain smooth image sequences and eliminate screen jitter, motion blur, and smearing.
UNISOC M6780 also offers a full-link sound quality improvement solution from audio codec to playback sound processing, including AI-AQ, sound field calibration, Dolby Atoms, etc., and supports intelligent sound adjustment technology.
It can interact intelligently with users through AI-Voice, AI gesture recognition, AI human body key point recognition, AI-protected crowd viewing recognition, and AI scene recognition. Other features include support for HDMI 2.1, VRR, and ALLM technologies.
Consumers can expect new TV products equipped with this chip to launch in the forthcoming months.
