Assassins creed 4 – Why you should be excited

Assassins creed 4 Black Flag is the latest entrant to the ever expanding Assassins creed franchise. This time the location is Caribbean, the setting is pirate world. And the protagonist this time is Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor. AC4 will be released on Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U. Assassins Creed 4 will take place in 1715 in the Caribbean during the golden days of pirates and looting.

Specifications and detailed information on Assassins Creed 4

The new entrant is Edward Kenway, father of the Templar Haytham Kenway. He is an assassin, privateer and sort of part-time pirate. It’s quite expected that the storyline of Connor would also be taken forward sideways.

Assassin’s Creed franchise’s creative director-Alex Hutchinson wanted to continue the story of Connor, lead of Assassin’s Creed III. But also emphasized the thought that they would like to have a new lead and setting for their new games. As for Desmond Miles who is already dead. This time it’s the people at Abstergo Industries who are peeping into the assassin bloodline using DNA samples they had from Desmond’s father William.

Main features of Assassins creed 4 are :-

1.) Naval Combat :

As the setting is all out there in the sea so pretty good naval warfare can be expected from AC4. It was first introduced in Assassin’s creed 3 and now it will be improved upon with new progression system, new weapons and new enemies. The ship of the pirate crew of Edward Kenway will be Jackdaw.

2.) New settings and location:

The series will now have many islands to go on. And all small islands will be accessible along with underwater wrecks and locations. Kingston, Havana and Nassau will be among the areas available for game play.

3.) New characters + Removal of Desmond’s arc in storyline.

The current day setting in the game would now focus on researchers who are working in Abstergo. The new characters will be new AI characters along with historical figures. Many prominent historical figures will be present in Assassin’s Creed 4.

• Blackbeard – A pirate contemporary of Edward Kenway and the voicing narrator of the debut Assassins Creed 4 trailer.
• Benjamin Hornigold – Notorious pirate & historical figure.
• Calico Jack – Notorious pirate & historical figure.
• Charles Vane – Notorious pirate & historical figure.
• Anne Bonny – She was renowned female pirate & historical figure.

4.) New weapons and improved combat:

The previous iterations had the “Hidden Blade” which will return as the staple. And the Flintlock pistols this time are in such a way that Edward can fire successive 4 shots. This is made possible by possession of four pistols at the same time. Two strapped at front, two at back.  The game’s combat will now have underwater combat with Sharks.

Another interesting aspect is that now the game has “free aim” or basically you can now run and shoot. (Third person shooter) Reminds me of Max Payne!

The best thing about AC4 is that it isn’t riding too high on expectations. People were too pumped up for AC3. Although it was a pretty solid game but people expected it to be out and out stunner. Which is not the best thing to expect from a game. This time with the booted story and the Blonde haired Assassin, it seems Ubisoft can strike Gold.
