ASUS Zenfone 6 tops DxOMark selfie score: But how? DxOMark announced the ASUS ZenFone 6 front camera scores recently. The smartphone’s overall selfie score is 98 points, the photo part score is 101 points, and the video shooting part score is 93 points.
In the DxOMark rankings, the ASUS ZenFone 6 became the leader in the front camera department surpassing the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy S10+, Google Pixel 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Huawei P30 Pro.
The ASUS ZenFone 6 innovatively uses a flip lens design, and the rear lens flips 180° to become the front camera. Therefore, when used as front camera setup, the camera specifications of the ASUS ZenFone 6 are extremely powerful.
ASUS Zenfone 6 camera details
It is equipped with the 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel super wide-angle lens. The main camera sensor is Sony IMX586 with an aperture of f/1.8. It supports PDAF phase focus and laser focus as well. It supports 4K video capture at 60fps and supports EIS as well for that.
DxOMark concluded that the ASUS ZenFone 6 is now the front camera champion. Thanks in large part to the excellent video score of 93 points, which is the best video score so far in this test.
ZenFone 6 benefits from a special rotary camera that can rely on unusually large 1/2-inch sensors to take self-portrait images and take full advantage of its performance. The ZenFone 6 image shows the best texture and noise compromise we’ve seen for a front camera. Even in very dim conditions, it delivers excellent detail at all brightness levels, and always controls the noise very well. The details of the images are quite acceptable with a lot of fine texture but not overly sharpened.
The camera algorithm definitely needs more work as of now. But the very fact there might be a Google Camera port coming soon for this device which may make the best use of its capabilities is a great thought!
