Intel has been hard at work for some time. Yesterday too we posted about an upcoming CometLake U processor. Now there are new leaks about a really powerful CPU which might be the successor to Intel’s Core i9 9980XE processor.
According to the TPU report, an unreleased Intel Cascade Lake-X processor has leaked online on Geekbench. It has 18 cores and 36 threads and is clocked at only 2.2GHz.
This unknown 18-core processor code-named Intel 0000 appeared in the Geekbench 4 database and most probably it should be a Cascade Lake chip.
The Intel 0000 processor comes with 18 cores, 36 threads and 24.8 MB of L3 cache. Based on specifications, we can infer that it is likely to be the successor to Intel’s current flagship Core i9-9980XE processor. It has a 2.19 GHz reference frequency and a maximum frequency of 3.28 GHz. This frequency is too low, so most likely it’s an earlier version or the numbers that have leaked are not final.
Intel had introduced the Cascade Lake Xeon CPU, but there is no detailed information about the Cascade Lake-X chip as of yet. So guys what do you think? Is this chip coming in anytime soon? But the real question is that will Intel actually price it competitively in order to gain market share. This has become a primary concern these days as the latest Ryzen 3rd Generation series has kind of shaken Intel’s market. AMD is providing extreme performance and a higher number of cores compared to Intel at a much lower price point. So the real question definitely is that as and when this chip comes out how aggressively will Intel price it!
