Sneak Peek: Third-Generation Audi Q3 Revealed

The third-generation Audi Q3, featuring a revolutionary split and a range of hybrid powertrains is set to redefine compact SUV luxury.

On April 8, 2024, the automotive world received its first glimpse of the third-generation Audi Q3, a compact SUV that has consistently captured market attention since its European debut in 2011.

This new iteration is anticipated to make its grand entrance later this year, marking another milestone in the model’s evolution.

The latest spy shots reveal significant updates, with the Q3 sporting Audi’s newest design language, potentially increasing its dimensions.

Notably, the Q3 incorporates design elements from the e-tron Q6, showcasing sleek daytime running lights composed of multiple LED modules for versatile patterns and information display.

This design strategy introduces a split headlight configuration, a feature increasingly common across Audi’s SUV range.

However, the Q3’s side profile remains understated, opting out of the electronic external rearview mirrors seen on models like the RS6 e-tron, and retaining traditional pull-type door handles instead of the more modern flush-mounted variety seen on competitors like the BMW X1.

Unlike earlier leaks, the latest images display the tail lights ignited, indicating Audi has chosen not to equip its smallest SUV with the continuous light bar found on other models.

Spy photos also hint at an extended wheelbase for the new Q3, promising enhanced interior and storage space. While the presence of a charging port on the prototype suggests a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, the latest model may feature a simpler mild hybrid system.

As one of Audi’s final models to offer an internal combustion engine, the new Q3’s powertrain lineup is expected to include petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options, tailored to market demand.

The Q3 shares its platform with the Volkswagen Tiguan, with offerings ranging from front-wheel to all-wheel drive, and engine options including 1.5L and 2.0L petrol engines, a 2.0L diesel engine, and two PHEV systems with up to 268 horsepower.

High-performance S3 and possibly the last 2.5L turbocharged five-cylinder RS Q3 versions are anticipated.

The third-generation Audi Q3 is expected to be unveiled in late 2024, with more details to emerge as its launch approaches.
