As per reports from sources on June 7th, Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, tweeted that Instagram, the popular social media platform, seems to be developing an AI chatbot/Agent that can provide assistance to users in various ways.
Paluzzi has been known to decompile Instagram’s code, which helps him predict the platform’s functions before they are officially announced.
According to Paluzzi, the AI chatbot will be capable of answering questions, providing help, and even assisting users in writing messages. This feature will be especially helpful for those who struggle with writing messages or those who want to save time in composing their messages.
Furthermore, Paluzzi mentioned that the chatbot will offer 30 different personality traits for users to choose from, which means that users can choose their preferred way of chatting.
As of now, Instagram has not provided any official statement regarding the development of the AI chatbot. However, this feature could be an exciting addition to the platform, as it would help users get their queries answered quickly and easily. In February of this year, Snapchat launched its own chatbot called “My AI.”
However, many users have reported that this feature is mandatory and cannot be deleted or blocked. Moreover, the chatbot sometimes provides inappropriate or harmful content, leading to negative reviews.
Hence, it remains to be seen if Instagram’s AI chatbot will have similar drawbacks and limitations.
Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has previously announced its plans to experiment with artificial intelligence on other platforms like Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has stated that the company’s long-term goal is to create
“AI characters that can help people in a variety of ways.”
Regarding Instagram, Zuckerberg has mentioned that the company is working on optimizing content filters and the advertisement experience through AI.
Therefore, the development of an AI chatbot on Instagram is in line with the company’s overall vision for enhancing the user experience on its platforms.
