Micromax has come up with the Canvas Sliver 5 recently, which has been touted by them as the slimmest phone in the world. And it’s very light too, just 97 grams. So it does make it a very easy to hold and classy to show of in those parties that some of our reader base might be familiar with!

First of let me make this clear that this phone is indeed very slim, maybe not really the slimmest but a bump-less back and body makes it one of the better designed models out there. Not that you’ll fall in love with it, but your old phone will surely feel jealous.
Display
The screen is 4.8 inches, a little less than the norm today with a resolution of 720×1280 and a PPI of 306. An AMOLED HD touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 , the overall display is nice. No complaints here. And the fact that this smart phone comes with a AMOLED display means that overall battery life would be improved because of this, as AMOLED displays don’t take as much juice to run as TFT LCD displays.
Performance
The phone comes with a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 Chipset and Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. It’s GPU is Adreno 306. So powerful enough device to do all the tedious tasks. (And still look good)
Talking about the memory, we have 2 GB of RAM for our apps and 16 GB of internal storage for our media, but too bad that you can’t increase it as there is no slot for a memory card.
Battery is not so good on paper, only 2000 mAH but Micromax does promise that in real world usage they have made many optimizations and hardware choices which help to gain additional battery backup.
The OS in Canvas Sliver 5 is Android OS, v5.0.2 (Lollipop) which is the best you can get right now so no problem there too. And I’m sure you already know about all the exciting features of Android Lollipop.
Camera
The phone also have a decent camera , 8 Mega-pixel rear with flash and CMOS Image Sensor and with autofocus, Geo-tagging and smile detection for your beautiful nature’s shot and a 5 Mega-pixel shooter for your crazy selfies.
Connectivity
The phone is a Single Nano SIM device with 4G connectivity, with Airtel offering its service for 3 month with the phone.

But the biggest turn off from the device is probably its price. Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is available in market for a price of INR 18,000. A little too much considering its features and the general competition it has from so many great devices out there even in the sub 10K region.
Overall, the phone is basically for those who likes to show off their gadgets and don’t care much about all the features and can spend some extra bucks for an average device.

The concept was nice. But there is no SD card slot and very low battery life. Is the price will decrease ? The too much of cost 18,000 INR
Yeah, the phone is too costly and that’s why we guess it would be a dud and not bring much sales for Micromax!
Thank you for this article, going to buy this phone for my sister… can you tell about heating of this phone.
Yes, it does heat up. In case your sister is going to play a lot of games we won’t recommend this phone. Check out the new Xolo Black, it’s also a good smartphone! 🙂
