Snapdragon 810 to be tested by Qualcomm with Cat.9 LTE support

With Huawei’s support, Qualcomm is testing Snapdragon 810 new Gobi Modem Pass Cat. 9 LTE-A. It is going to be launched soon and the CES (Consumer Electronics show) 2015 is fast approaching, it will be held next month from Jan 6 to 9 in Las Vegas where a no of high end flagship phones will be launched. Now why I am telling you this is because those smartphones will have something in common, a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. As the reports suggest, Qualcomm is testing its Snapdragon 810 processor with the new Cat.9 LTE modem support. And this processor is expected to be a big player next year with most of the high end devices launching next year boasting it.

The reports also suggests that the new modem will have support for the Category 9 carrier Aggregation and have a peak download speed of upto 450 Mbps over three 20MHz LTE carrier. These reports have came just days after Qualcomm stated expanding its LTE capabilities in Snapdragon 810 to add Category 9 Carrier Aggregation.

Qualcomm Europe President and Qualcomm’ s Senior Vice President, Enrico Salvatori, recently said that,

“Transitioning from Category 6 to Category 9 LTE-A connectivity will mean 1.5x faster peak download speeds, swift application response times, reliable connectivity and connections to the fastest networks.”

Qualcomm is also testing Snapdragon 810 with Cat.9 modem support with the help of Huawei which have the infrastructure necessary for the the particular modem,according to the same reports.

It is expected that the Snapdragon 810 SoC will be powering the next generation of flagship devices of brands like Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG and other fishes in the pond. There were rumours some weeks ago that due to some issues in Snapdragon 810 SoC, many companies will delay the launch of their devices, however, putting a stop to these rumours,  Qualcomm’s Senior Director of Public Relations Jon Carvill said that the next gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip have no difficulties with the production and first series of devices with the Snapdragon Chipset will start pouring out in early parts of next year.

Qualcomm also announced its Fifth-Gen LTE solution called Gobi 9×45 modem recently. It comes with a download speed of 450 Mbps and have a better upload speed now of 100 Mbps which is 50 Mbps for Category 9. This is also the First announced Category 10 LTE Cellular Modem of Qualcomm.

Some rumours related to Samsung are also surfacing that state that Qualcomm’s rival, Samsung Exynos processor is also going to feature Cat. 10 LTE connectivity.  According to these same rumours, these new Exynos Chipset might start shipping soon with upcoming Samsung devices from next year, most probably from the much awaited Galaxy S6 maybe.
