YU Yutopia launched: When YU launched its mobile phones in India, they went for a smart strategy wherein they launched a device which is smart and affordable, something that can attract users. And now, after one year YU has launched Yutopia, which at least on paper qualifies for a great flagship smartphone! It has all possible good hardware specs alongwith a decent design and battery life. YU Yutopia hands on review
Design and Display:
Yutopia is similar to the previous YU devices, at first, look, with a few modifications. Yutopia has a YU logo in front along with the camera. The overall body is rectangular in shape and comes with all metal body and light weight. The edges are not that rounded due to which the device gets somewhat an industrial look only. The Saturn ring design is still there and it looks pretty great combined with a metal body. The display of the device is 5.2-inch screen protected with Gorilla glass and has a quad HD display with a resolution of 1440x2560pixels. It qualifies for a sharply made screen. The thin frame is about 7.5 mm and compact size which makes the device easy to carry and single hand use is also possible. The overall design is above average and somehow looks like a marriage between the design sense of Lumia devices and the iPhone.
Software and Performance:
The Yutopia is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with a mighty LPDDR4 RAM of 4GB. There is 32 GB internal storage available which is also expandable via SD Card. Yutopia uses CyanogenMod 12 which is based on Android Lollipop. The marshmallow version can be expected by February. Thanks to Cyanogen, there is a vast improvement in the overall UI and icons as well. During the initial usage, we hardly found any lags thanks to the ample RAM given to the device. We still have to review the device completely to give a final verdict, but what we have experience till now is pretty good, still Cyanogen feels buggy at times and fails to perform as well as stock Android.
Camera and Battery:

Yutopia comes with 21 MP main camera supplied by Sony and 8 MP front camera, for selfies. So, in the camera section, you can expect good quality pictures, thanks to Sony. The color balance was a little off at some points but overall the images were crisp with plenty of detail. The battery stands at 3,000 mAh, about which we are a little skeptical whether it would last as per the phone’s performance or not.
